Organizing Committee Issued the Schedule of Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics

July 22 (official website of the Olympic Organizing Committee) – The Organizing Committee of Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics introduced the schedule of the Winter Olympics that will be held from February 2 to February 23, 2014.


Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics will last for 17 days, and the additional events will increase the program to 15 sports (12 gold medals added) with 98 medal events: 29 of which in ice events in the coastal cluster and 69 in the mountains. There will be 6,000 athletes and officials from 85 countries and regions participate in the Olympics. Both the total number of competition events and the number of new events will create a new Olympic record.


9 of the 12 newly added events are from one of the events that improve fastest – ski. In Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, women players will participate in the ski jumping for the first time in the history of Olympics. The addition of the events (4 types of free-skiing and 4 types of snowboard) shows that the young are becoming more interested in ski. There are also three team events added in the Winter Olympics: figure skating, sledding (relay), and biathlon (mixed relay).
