Beijing Olympic City Development Association Released at 7:44 on November 24, 2022 in Beijing.
Recently, the third expert review meeting for the “Global Solicitation of Olympic Collections” Programme was held to review newly received donations (excluding items from Beijing 2022), of which 82 items/sets became part of the collection of the Beijing Olympic Museum. So far, 874 items/sets donated under the “Global Solicitation of Olympic Collections” Programme have become part of the collection of the Beijing Olympic Museum.
The “Global Solicitation of Olympic Collections” Programme is approved by the International Olympic Committee and jointly sponsored by the Beijing Olympic City Development Association and the Beijing Olympic Museum. It mainly solicits important commemorative items related to the Olympic Games, especially those related to the bidding, preparations and staging of the 2008 and 2022 Games. Since the programme was launched on November 28, 2021, it has received positive response from all walks of life at home and abroad. So far, it has received more than 10,000 donations, including over 1,000 high-value ones, ranging from torches, badges, certificates, clothing, flags and stamps to utensils, books, leaflets and audio-visual products. Experts have been invited to review and classify the donations. Efforts have been made to ensure these items are fully utilised. The donated items will be displayed at the Beijing Olympic Museum, used in youth Olympic values education, Olympic research, and international exchanges.
It is reported that the “Global Solicitation of Olympic Collections” Programme will end on November 28, 2022, but the Olympic artefact solicitation will continue. We encourage organisations, businesses and individuals to make donations, provide clues or engage in other forms of cooperation with us.
