The first meeting of the Organizing Committee of “Sport, Happiness and Health” 2012 Olympic Education Activities in Primary and Secondary Schools of Beijing held

The Organizing Committee of “Sport, Happiness and Health” 2012 Olympic education activities in primary and secondary schools of Beijing (hereinafter referred to as the “Organizing Committee”) held the first meeting in the afternoon of March 28, 2012. Liu Jingmin, Vice Mayor of Beijing, Executive Vice President of Beijing Olympic City Development Association (BODA) and President of the Organizing Committee attended and addressed the meeting. Leaders from Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports, the branches of organizing committee in 16 districts and counties of Beijing and other related units attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Liu Jinmin, Executive Vice President of BODA.

The meeting received reports on the overall work plan of Olympic education activities in primary and secondary schools of Beijing 2012 and the work plan of related campus football events, as well as arrangements of the opening ceremony and the assignment of responsibilities. The Commission of Education of Chaoyang District and the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China respectively shared their experience in Olympic education in 2011.

In the meeting, Liu Jingmin put forward four requirements. The first is to carry out the Olympic education in primary and secondary schools by seizing the opportunities of the Olympic Year and carrying forward and practicing Beijing Spirit. The second is to integrate resources, improve the mechanism and work together to provide powerful organizational and fund support for various jobs. The third is to carry out all organizational jobs through defining and implementing the responsibilities. The fourth is to strengthen the news propaganda. The features and highlights of the Olympic education activities should be promoted and reported from multiple perspectives by virtue of the guidance of public opinion of the media like TV and network, so as to further enhance the awareness of the Olympic education among the public.
