Liu Qi meets with IOC President Jacques Rogge

On the early evening of September 21, Liu Qi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and President of Beijing Olympic City Development Association (BODA) met with the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Jacques Rogge.

On behalf of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Beijing Municipal People’s Government, Liu Qi extended his warm welcome to Mr. Rogge for coming to Beijing to attend the 14th World Conference on Sport for All and his wishes for a very successful event. He said that Sport for All is an integral part of the Olympic Movement. The World Conference on Sport for All offers an ideal platform of international exchange to promote the Sport for All movement. The 14th World Conference on Sport for All will continue the effort to disseminate the Olympic Spirit and boost the human development.

Dr. Rogge said the Beijing Olympic Games left an exceptional sporting legacy with a number of landmark venues and a major increase in sports participation, especially among the younger generations. He also thanked all those involved in organizing this conference.
