One day after the opening of the 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) in Beijing, the opening ceremony and main forum of the World Winter Sports (Beijing) Expo 2020 (WWSE 2020) was held at China National Convention Center in the same city on September 5, 2020.

Zhang Jiandong, vice mayor of Beijing, executive vice president of the Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and vice president of Beijing Olympic City Development Association, delivered a speech at the event.

Zhang speaks at the event.

Zhang said the WWSE 2020 was one of the theme exhibitions at the CIFTIS, and the combination of the two events marked an effective integration of the resources of two world-class exhibition brands, which would provide good opportunities for the international development of China’s ice and snow sports industry.

Zhang said the WWSE serves as an important platform to showcase the development of ice and snow sports in China. It is held in Beijing annually, and the four previous editions attracted 1,738 exhibitors and more than 556,000 visitors from more than 20 countries and regions. It plays an important role in facilitating the integration of global ice and snow sports resources, promoting cooperation in related industries and guiding high-level development of the ice and snow sports industry, and has become a major catalyst for coordinated and win-win cooperation in the global ice and snow sports sector.

Zhang hoped that the forums, exhibitions and business negotiations during WWSE 2020 could provide effective channels for domestic and international cooperation and exchanges in the fields related to winter sports, and help foster new achievements in innovative integration of the ice and snow sports industry and technology, culture, finance and tourism.
