One-year countdown to the Winter Olympics: Beijing’s competition venues meet conditions for test competitions


On the one-year countdown to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, all competition venues have completed. And the Beijing zone’s competition venues have already met the conditions for test competition, and fully completed ice- and snow-making.

The Beijing Winter Olympics has 7 sports, 15 disciplines and 109 events, and 25 venues are planned to be used. The competitions will be held in the Beijing Zone, Yanqing Zone and Zhangjiakou Zone. The Beijing Zone will host all ice events and some snow events in its six venues.

On January 22, Beijing’s five ice event venues, i.e. the National Speed Skating Oval, the National Aquatics Center, the National Stadium, the Capital Indoor Stadium, and Wukesong Sports Center, completed ice making.

In addition, two competition venues in the Yanqing Zone have completed ice- and snow-making and the tracks there have obtained international certification.
