On November 15, 2021, the In Memoriam Dr Jacques Rogge exhibition sponsored by the Beijing Olympic City Development Association (BODA) opened at the Beijing Olympic Museum. The exhibition showcases the wonderful and legendary life of Dr Jacques Rogge, the former president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), with pictures and objects.

Liu Jingmin, Executive Vice Chairman of BODA, Yu Zaiqing, Vice President of IOC and Vice President of Beijing 2022, Wang Wei and Jiang Xiaoyu, Vice Chairmen of BODA, Fu Xiaohui, Secretary General of BODA and other leaders and representatives attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

On August 29, 2021, the International Olympic Committee announced the passing of Dr Rogge. He was an honorary citizen of Beijing and an old friend of the Chinese people. Many leaders and friends who participated in the bid, preparation and hosting of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games contacted BODA to express their grief. So, BODA launched the In Memoriam Dr Jacques Rogge exhibition to display related photographs, art works and souvenirs with signature for the audience to mourn the former IOC president.

The exhibition received great support from the IOC and Dr Rogge’s family. The IOC provided a large number of pictures for the exhibition, and Mrs Anne Rogge addressed the opening ceremony via video.

A memorial ceremony was held at the opening ceremony. The participants presented flowers and bowed to the bust of Dr Rogge to express their deep mourning.

BODA’s Secretary General Fu Xiaohui accepts a portrait of Dr Jacques Rogge created by sculptor Yuan Xikun.

Visitors can make an appointment via the WeChat account of the Beijing Olympic Museum, and are required to follow the rules for pandemic prevention and control.
